Hi! My name is Hazel and I would like to share a bit of my story with you.
In high school, I never really had a problem with my weight. I was into sports and band (hey… marching band is no joke!) ...and it kept me in pretty good shape. I ate whatever I wanted – I remember people calling me the human garbage disposal! Not long after graduation, I joined the Army. I met some of my best friends, got deployed, traveled all over, got married and then came back home.
In 2007, I was dealt a low blow. No details are needed, just to say that I was not doing so well emotionally and definitely had zero self-esteem. I got up to the heaviest I have ever been and I was so miserable. Over the next couple of years, I sort of stayed in a bit of a slump. I bought lots of baggy clothes and just tried to pretend I wasn't unhappy with myself.
In 2009, I was going to college full-time and started having a lot of time on my hands. I decided I was going to lose weight and I was on a mission. Sadly, I didn't think about my health. I just wanted the weight gone – I wanted to be skinny and that would make me happy. I went on a super calorie restrictive diet. I probably averaged 1000 calories a day and I kept track of every single thing I ate. Then I started going cardio crazy. I worked out probably 2+ hours a day, every day, all cardio. It was insane, but I lost weight. At the same time, I felt drained. I felt unhealthy. I surely wasn't happy. As soon as I graduated and got a job, the weight came back on because I didn't have time for my mega long workouts and strict calorie counting.
One day while searching online for workout ideas, I stumbled upon some Beachbody Coaches. They were so inspirational to me! I followed them and joined an accountability group on Facebook, not knowing what to expect. What I found were some of the most amazing people. Every day they push you to be better, to reach your goals, to not give up. I was hooked on these people and the positive impact they were having on my life! Now I swear by the healthy changes I have made - a vegan diet, Shakeology, consistent workouts, smiling as much as possible - and I have never felt better. I am no longer looking to be skinny. I am working on being FIT. This is my way of life. This is my continuous journey to being healthy and happy!
I love to help people. I have always been interested in health and fitness and now I have the tools to put that passion to good use! Now I have the opportunity to educate others and share with them these products that I believe so much in – things that have put me back on a healthy track. I just love it!
